Insurance Regulation

This 14-assignment course is recommended for people in the insurance business who are interested in regulation or who deal with regulation or regulators. It might also be useful for insurance regulators who want to learn more about the entire system of insurance regulation.

The course provides an overview of insurance regulation, including the roles of state insurance departments, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, state legislatures, the legal system, Congress and federal agencies, consumers, the insurance industry, and the media. It covers the theory of regulation; the history of regulation in the United States; and how state insurance departments regulate the operations and activities of insurance companies, agents and brokers.

Successful completers earn a Certificate of Completion and credit for the related Studies requirement of the CPCU program.
