Introduction to Underwriting
This eight-assignment course is recommended for anyone in the property
and liability insurance business who needs a basic understanding of who
underwriters do and why. The course can be valuable to underwriting assistants,
rates, coders, loss control and other support personnel in insurance companies,
and personnel at agencies and brokerages who work with underwrites. No
prior underwriting experience, training, or education is required.
Introduction to Underwriting describes both the importance and the objectives
of underwriting decision-making process in detail. The importance of the
underwriter-producer relationship in accomplishing underwriting objectives
is stressed throughout the text. The national exam is available on request
(not a fixed date). Successful completers receive a Certificate of Completion.
